The Denver March Pow Wow Committee, on behalf of the Denver Indian Community, would like to extend a warm welcome to all dancers, singers, traders, spectators, and powwow fans, non-Indian and Indian alike--to our Annual Denver March Pow Wow. As you anticipate the Grand Entry, enjoy the feelings of comradery, the panorama of colors, the rhythmic sound of bells, drums, jingles, and deer toes; and the combined smells of sage, sweet grass and cedar that most of the dance outfits are stored in. Feel your heart pulsing in rhythm with the drum. Then . . . Sit back and enjoy some of the finest American Indian singing and dancing. Don't forget to visit the Storytelling room and the 170+ arts and crafts booths or taste the delicious Fry Bread.

The Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials

Buffalo Bill Presents...A Living Canvas of the West!

The Old West of Frederic Remington, Charles Russell and George Catlin will come to life as mountain men, musicians, Indians, craftspeople, and soldiers demonstrate their lives and skills at the Buffalo Bill Museum. “A Living Canvas of the West” will feature the types of people that western artists painted. Fur trappers will show the skills needed to survive in the early Western frontier. An artillery crew will demonstrate cannon firing and Annie Oakley will provide trick shooting. Indians will do tribal dances and talk about their culture. Buffalo soldiers will talk about their role in the West and a Civil War era band will provide music. Presiding over it all will be Buffalo Bill, a man who became a legend in his own time.

Georgetown Bighorn Sheep Festival

It's your chance to see one of Colorado's oldest and largest bighorn sheep herds. During the fall rut, these animals are much more active, especially the head-butting males who make it a point to prove who's king of the mountain. The other festival highlights are artists and artisans who will be showcasing their wildlife-related art. Rangers from the Colorado Division of Wildlife will also be available, providing talks and information on bighorn sheep — the state mammal — and answering questions about everything wildlife related.

Chocolate Tasting Festival

During one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year, local downtown Creede businesses make their own chocolate concoctions, which they offer to customers to taste and judge. Take a mini-break from shopping and sample fresh chocolate as you make your way through the shops in the historic downtown area. Also, you may want to stop in and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will be in town for the festival, and tell them your holiday wishes.
